Awake at the street, but asleep at the .....
Published by
It was a Harold and Ginger kinda Sunday morning. The night before, the two Revs had noted that the new Eclectic Edge McKenzie run was coming through Ginger's neighborhood and we should set-up an aid station, with tequila of course! Does that count as planning? Soooo, I'm laying in bed Sunday morning, look at the clock see 8:00am and start to ponder.......oh yeah! Harold was coming over, where is he and why am I still in bed? I bargain with Blondie, "don't move, I'll be right back!" I crawl out to the kitchen, look out the window and there's a Haroldmobile. I head out with two cups of coffee hoping we can get set-up before the crowd of runners stream by. Harold's got the juice. We plop in our chairs, sip coffe and wait for the runners. Around 8:40am (yeah, it took that long to notice). "Do you remember what time the race started?", I ask Harold. He gets out his Droid to look it up, but can;t read it without his glasses. I take over, hmmmm 9:00am, guess we're a little early. We head inside to warm up. It's 8:55am and we're back at the street...REALLY ready this time! We're lookin' down the road....both directions! We don't want to do something stupid! Looking away (to the east) from the direction we expect runners (from the west [in case you didn't figure that out]), we notice a guy in an orange vest a few blocks down where 31st street comes in. Must be watching traffic we figger........then we see the first elite runners fly by the volunteer....without their tequila! Then another pack of runners, and more, and more.....one of us finally says, "think we ought to go down there and watch'em?" And we did...
